‘The Fault in Our Stars’ Locations in Amsterdam

Of which movie do you think of when you’re visiting Amsterdam?
Right, The Fault in Our Stars.
Some of the most memorable scenes were shot in this city and I think every fan has to see some of the spots when they are in Amsterdam.
When I had the chance to go there last weekend, I didn’t just enjoyed the beauty of this city but also visited some locations of the film.
(Spoiler altert!)

The Bench

The most popular spot is probably ‘the bench’. Even though the scene isn’t one of the happiest ones, I was very happy to be there.
In 2014 however, the bench was stolen and soon after replaced by a new one. There are still rumors that this is the original one from the movie but it’s unconfirmed.

Anne Frank House

Another famous place is the Anne Frank House in which Hazel and Augustus have their first kiss. Unfortunately, the museum was sold out this day so I couldn’t go inside but just as Hazel and Gus, I  leaned against the railing on front of the entrance.

Adress: Prinsengracht 263-267, 1016 GV Amsterdam

Vondelpark

The Vondelpark is Amsterdam’s most popular and second largest park. Peter Van Houten’s house is located in the Vondelstraat nearby the park. Although Hazel and Gus don’t visit the park itself, it is briefly mentioned.

Hotel

Although it is said that their hotel in Amsterdam is called “De Filosoof”, it was actually shot in the American Hotel.

Adress: Leidsekade 97, 1017 PN Amsterdam

Rijksmuseum

On their date night, Hazel and Gus walk along outside of the Rijksmuseum.
And even John Green’s photo in the back of the book was photographed in front of the beautiful museum.

Adress: Museumstraat 1, 1071 XX Amsterdam

Have you ever visited some of these locations? Let me know in the comments!

Sad movie, indeed. Beautiful locations, though…I’ve never been to Europe, but this makes me want to!
