When you can buy rolls that look like soccer balls, when you see flags with black, red and golden stripes on every second house wall and wake up with the words It’s coming home, it’s coming home, it’s coming, football’s coming home in your head, you know the time has finally come: It’s time for European Championship.
This year’s host country is France and it’s the first time that there are playing 24 teams instead of 16.
The opening match – as well as the final – will take place in the “Stade de France” in Saint-Denis. Kickoff will be at 9pm (CEST).
I’m looking forward to this event for weeks and therefore I’m well equipped.
On Sunday, Germany has its first match and I’ll keep my fingers crossed for them.

Wenn es beim Bäcker Brötchen in Fußballform gibt, an jeder zweiten Hauswand Flaggen mit Schwarz, Rot, Goldenen Streifen hängen und Du morgens mit It’s coming home, it’s coming home, it’s coming, football’s coming home im Kopf aufwachst, dann ist es wieder so weit: Die EM steht vor der Tür.
Gespielt wird in Frankreich, dieses Jahr erstmals 24 statt 16 Mannschaften. Das Eröffnungsspiel findet ebenso wie das Finale im “Stade de France” in Saint-Denis statt. Anpfiff ist um 21 Uhr.
Seit Wochen freue ich mich nun schon auf diese Zeit und bin daher auch passend ausgerüstet.
Sonntag hat Deutschland sein erstes Spiel und ich drücke unserer Mannschaft natürlich fest die Daumen.
