Berlin is diverse – just like the range of hotels. It didn’t take us very long to find this wonderful hotel that we liked at first glance.

Berlin ist fecettenreich – so auch die verschiedenen Hotels. Ohne lange zu suchen, fanden wir im Internet das Hotel Elba, welches uns auf Anhieb gefiel.

General

Hotel Elba reminds due to his old building rather of a guest house than a typical hotel. When you walk through the big wooden front door, you get – after a couple of stairs – into the entry area, where the reception and breakfast area are located. You reach the rooms on the floors 1-4 by an antique elevator or a big wooden stair. Free wi-fi is available.

Das Hotel Elba erinnert durch seinen Altbau eher an eine Pension, als ein klassisches Hotel. Geht man durch die große hölzerne Eingangstür, gelangt man nach einigen Stufen in den Eingangsbereich, wo sich die Rezeption und der Frühstückssaal befinden. Die Zimmer auf den Etagen 1-4 erreicht erreicht man durch den antiken Aufzug oder die riesige Holztreppe. Freies W-Land ist vorhanden.

Location

Hotel Elba is located in the street “Bleibtreustraße 26”, not far from Kürfürstendamm and therefore very central. You reach the bus stop Bleibtreustraße within 190m as well as the S-Bahn stop Savignyplatz (750m distance by foot). Without changing any trains you get to the airport Berlin Tegel (TXL),  and the stops Hauptbahnhof (mainstation), Friedrichstraße, Alexanderplatz and Ostkreuz.

Das Hotel Elba liegt in der Bleibtreustraße 26, unweit vom Kurfürstendamm. Damit ist es sehr zenrtal gelegen. Zu Fuß erreicht man sehr schnell die Bushaltestelle Bleibtreustraße (190m Entfernung) sowie die S-Bahnhaltestelle Savignyplatz (750m Entfernung). Von dort aus gelangt man ohne Umsteigen zum Flughafen Berlin Tegel (TXL), sowie zu den Haltestellen Hauptbahnhof, Friedrichstraße, Alexanderplatz und Ostkreuz.

Rooms

We were more than satisfied with our rooms: high ceilings (with stucco), a comfortable and nicely decorated bed, refrigerator, seating area with a couch, TV, desk and comfortable armchairs. Additionally, a small but fine bathroom (hair dryer available) and even an own balcony with a view on Bleibtreustraße. Even though the mainstreet Kurfürstendamm is not far away, our room was very quiet.

Von unserem Zimmer waren wir mehr als begeistert. Hohe Decken (mit Stuck verziert), ein bequemes und schön dekoriertes Bett, Kühschrank, Sitzecke mit Couch, TV, Schreibtisch und bequeme Polstersessel. Dazu ein kleines, sauberes Badezimmer (Fön vorhanden) und einen eigenen Balkon mit Aussicht auf die Bleibtreustraße. Auch wenn der Kurfürstendamm nicht weit entfernt ist, bekamen wir keinen Lärm mit.

 Breakfast

Breakfast was offered in a living roomish hall from 7.30 a.m. to 10.30 a.m. It was beautifully decorated and also the choice of breakfast was hugely satisfying. They seemed to have food for every kind of person, no matter if you are a vegetarian, vegan, meat-lover or a person with a sweet tooth. They got: fresh smoothies, salads, cake, Poffertjes (Dutch batter treat), different kinds of coffee, ginger water, a huge variety of cheese and much more. We enjoyed our meal with dulcet music in the background and a view of the hotel’s little garden/patio. All in all it was a perfect place to enjoy our breakfast, before we started our day to explore the city.

In einem gemütlichen, wohnzimmer-ähnlichen Speisesaal wurde das Frühstück zwischen 7:30 Uhr und 10:30 Uhr angeboten. Von der Art, wie es angerichtet war, sowie von der Auswahl an sich waren wir sehr begeistert. Es schien für jeden etwas dabei zu sein, egal ob Vegetarier, Veganer, Fleischesser oder Naschkatze: frische Smoothies, Salate, Kuchen, Poffertjes, Kaffeegetränke, Ingwerwasser, eine breite Auswahl an Käsesorten und vieles mehr. Mit angenehmer Musik im Hintergrund und Blick auf den schönen Innenhof genossen wir unser Frühstück, bevor wir die Stadt erkundeten.

value-for-money ratio

We payed 75€ per night for a double room including breakfast and wi-fi. We were very content with our room and breakfast as well as the good traffic connection and the hotel’s cleanliness. We recommend this hotel beyond doubt.

75 Euro pro Nacht zahlten wir für ein Doppelzimmer mit Frühstück und W-Lan inklusive. Mit unserem Zimmer, dem Frühstück sowie den guten Verkehrsverbindungen und der Sauberkeit des Hotels waren wir sehr zufrieden und würden das Hotel zweifelos weiterempfehlen.
